Some progressives disappointed in Interior pick Salazar

Randy Shaw at San Francisco’s alternative online daily, BeyondChron, reports progressives are disappointed at President-elect Barack Obama’s choice of Colorado Senator Ken Salazar to head the Department of the Interior. Shaw cites Salazar’s votes against increasing fuel-efficiency standards for cars and trucks and against an amendment to repeal tax breaks for ExxonMobil and other major oil companies.     The only reason I can see for appointing Salazar to this sensitive post is that he would be removed from the Senate and could no longer vote against legislation that would protect the environment.
