Beginning today, MinnPost will feature a new daily blog called Political Economy and written by Steve Perry.

As its title suggests, Steve’s blog won’t be regurgitating dry economic data you can get from other sources.

Instead he will examine what economic numbers and trends are likely to mean — and how the biggest story of our day is playing out in the political arena — both nationally and in Minnesota, and the ramifications for all of us.

Steve is a thought-provoking writer and thinker well known to Minnesota readers. He began his journalistic career as a music critic for City Pages in 1984 and was editor of that publication from 1989 to 1997 and 2002 to 2007.

Steve has become a widely published observer of politics, culture and the arts whose work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, Counterpunch, LA Weekly, the Boston Phoenix, London City Limits and Salon. He is also a former contributing editor to Musician magazine and the music industry newsletter Rock and Roll Confidential. Most recently, he was editor of the Minnesota Independent.

He can be reached at steveperry [at] minnpost [dot] com.

  1. Alright. The best hope of the Twin Cities independent media. But why not make him an editor?
