There’s no question I’m in a minority here, but I thought Barack Obama’s performance last night was a disappointment–a little terrifying, even. He sounded soporific, exhausted, cautious to a fault. Overwhelmed, I think, is the best one-word summary.

The audio is rough on FDR’s intro… Thought he was talking about “Spanking?!” Oh, right. “Banking.” Wow.
More seriously I found it to be gripping almost cinematic (whatever that means). I agree there was something a little bit terrifying about it. Maintaining a hope while being truthful. Notifying the country without being alarmist just dancing on the edge. Obama really does seem to have a different vibe than Bush jr. and Clinton.
