WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. John Kline appears to be in a good position heading into today’s vote to fill the GOP’s top spot on the House Education and Labor Committee, according to CongressDaily.
A top Republican aide told CongressDaily that as many as six Republican Steering Committee members are publicly supporting Kline, who is also close friends with House Minority Leader John Boehner.
But it’s not a done deal yet. Also in the running are Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., and Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.
There are 33 votes on the steering committee. Today’s balloting will proceed until someone receives 17 votes.
