Norm Coleman lavish in his praise of Pawlenty

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Norm Coleman lavished praise on Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty today after his fellow Republican announced that he would not seek a third term.

“Tim Pawlenty is the son of hardworking Minnesotans who has rolled up his sleeves to stand for the values his Mom and Dad built this state upon, and has provided extraordinary, principled leadership for Minnesota,” Coleman said in a statement. “He has been the taxpayers’ champion, and effectively used his veto pen to slow down wasteful government spending. I am hopeful that he will continue to be a voice for fiscal responsibility and effective government.”

    So, will we see Norm throw his hat in the gubernatorial ring if he loses the election contest?

    I have in my possession a secret “Political Statement Decoder Ring” which was retrieved by a special operative who lost three fingers and a foot during the mission. If I use the decoder to translate Norm’s statement it reads:

    “Dear Tim, please don’t sign the election certificate. Thanks, Norm.”

    Of all those high-minded reasons Norm gave for veneration of the current Governor, he forgot to mention that Pawlenty dropped out of

    – a Governor’s race; and
    – a U.S. Senate race;

    the worshipful Coleman himself being the beneficiary, in both instances.

    Do our Tim’s mom and dad really approve of his cuts to programs that help those who are unable to exist without that help? Or would they have preferred that he roll back the tax cuts on our state’s most wealthy citizens?

    Hmm.
