Rep. Paulsen joins GOP colleagues in criticizing Fed’s debt policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Minnesota’s 3rd District Rep. Erik Paulsen joined other Republicans late last week in requesting that the Federal Reserve stop printing money to buy U.S. debt.

In a letter to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, the group called the Fed’s current policy of creating dollars to cover U.S. debts “a new and highly risky policy that threatens to debase the dollar.”

Paulsen signed the letter, along with Reps. Mark Kirk R-Ill., Leonard Lance R-N.J., and Dan Burton R-Ind.
