Senate Judiciary Committee supports Sotomayor confirmation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Senate Judiciary Committee, including Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken (see video below), has voted to send Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s Supreme Court nomination to the Senate floor for approval.

The Committee voted 13 to 6 in favor of Sotomayor. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., was the only Republican to support her nomination.

If confirmed, Sotomayor would become the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice.

The full Senate is expected to vote next week on her nomination.
