WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Senate Thursday night approved a $2 billion extension of the popular “cash for clunkers” program.
The measure was approved by a 60 to 37 vote. Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, both Democrats, voted in favor of the cash infusion.
After President Obama signs the bill, the money is expected to keep the program operating until around Labor Day.
