WASHINGTON, D.C. — As predicted by MinnPost, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., recommended Susan Richard Nelson on Tuesday for a position on the U.S. District Court for Minnesota.
“Because federal judges are appointed for life, it’s essential that we have someone who’s proven to be fair-minded with impeccable integrity and an excellent judicial temperament,” Klobuchar, who served as Hennepin County attorney, said in a statement. “Those qualities define Susan Richard Nelson.”
Nelson has served as a U.S. magistrate in Minnesota since 2000. Prior to that she was a trial lawyer for 22 years.
“Susan Richard Nelson is eminently qualified for this position,” Minnesota’s junior Sen. Al Franken said in a statement. “She’s a fantastic jurist with an impeccable resume whose talents have already served Minnesota well. I’m confident she’ll continue to excel on the federal court.”
