Gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton released his income tax return to the press. We were given 27 pages of details. The DFLer’s total income was $172, 475 mostly from investments. He notes $26,883 in gifts to charities that include: Growth & Justice, MinnPost, Planned Parenthood, Will Steger Foundation, Wellstone Action Fun, Yale University, YMCA.
Dayton called upon the other DFL, Republican, and Independence Party candidates to also release their 2009 tax returns. He said, “Both Republican President George W. Bush and Democratic President Barack Obama released their tax returns. Their bi-partisan commitment to transparency should set an example for those of us, who want to be Minnesota’s next Governor.”
Another interesting find in the tax return is the capital loss listed as Renoir “Enfants” and another work of art at a loss of $56,337. The sale price is listed at $18,663 which is subtracted from original price of $75,000. The work appears to be listed online on artnet as of March 18, 2010.
