DFLers slow to gather as polls close

As the polls closed, DFL headquarters in Minneapolis still stood nearly empty.  One staffer joked that they didn’t want any Democrats here yet, they want them all out until the last minute getting out the vote.  Speeches are set to start sometime after 8 pm.

DFL Party Chair Brian Melendez said “At the end of the night Mark Dayton will be the next governor of Minnesota.”  While some Democrats say there are nervous about turnout in the Oberstar-Cravaak race, Melendez says “high turn out helps us out.”  So it’s slow for now with Democrats, mostly the media are waiting and watching CNN on the big screens.
