Hatch does not plan to work for Dayton

Mike Hatch tells me he does not plan for work for Mark Dayton as has been widely rumored.  Hatch who was the losing DFL candidate for governor four years ago says he’s not sure why that talk originally circulated.  Some have speculated that the longtime Democrat would serve as Dayton’s chief of staff in the governor’s office.  Hatch said in many ways he’s “been there” and in politics you don’t go back.   He says he thinks Dayton is an “incredibly nice guy” though.

The former attorney general says he is enjoying life as is, supporting his protege Attorney General Lori Swanson here on election night.  Many Almanac viewers have enjoyed his remarkably non-partisan analysis on our political panel after his highly feisty career.  Hatch is also feeling pretty good that Democrats will end a long absence in the governor’s office.  We’ll have more from DFL headquarters in Minneapolis throughout the night, as well as GOP and IP reports.
