Budget Commissioner Steve Sviggum described the forecast as being up and down but overall “not a big story.” It turns out the forecast for the upcoming fiscal years 2012-2013 is for a $6.2 billion shortfall. That’s 16% of the overall budget of more than $38 billion.
Sviggum didn’t directly give us numbers after I went into a dead sprint running after him in the Capitol. It just so happens once the photo was posted to social media you could read the number upside down in very small print in the picture I took in the elevator. As twitter exploded with responses House GOP media guy Kevin Watterson said “Next time they’re gonna bring it over in a sealed bag or something.”
