MinnPost member benefit program details


Your membership level is defined based on the greater of A) your total household contributions in the previous 365 days, or B) the total value of pledges and recurring donations due in the next 12 months.

For example, someone who gave $60 at the end of last year is currently a MinnPost Silver member. If that same person were to today commit to giving $10 per month ($120 per year), however, they would immediately become a MinnPost Gold member.


Recognition in MinnPost annual report

All MinnPost donors are recognized in our annual report unless they request anonymity. (We do not accept anonymous gifts of $1,000 or more.)

Quarterly report from MinnPost leadership

MinnPost Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum members will receive a quarterly email with behind-the-scenes commentary from MinnPost executives on both the editorial and business sides.


Exclusive content

This content complements our regular reports with items that give readers a glimpse into what our editorial and business staff is reading and thinking. “What we’re reading” pieces will have MinnPost journalists direct readers to work recently published elsewhere that has influenced their thinking of that of the communities they cover. “By the numbers” pieces will feature MinnPost managers offering insights on some of our most-watched internal operating metrics, from traffic to reader preferences to revenue. This exclusive content will be published on MinnPost.com, but may only be read by logged-in Silver, Gold, and Platinum members.

Event-related benefits

Early registration to MinnPost events: MinnPost Silver, Gold, and Platinum members will be able to buy/claim tickets to MinnPost events prior to the general public. The way in which pre-sales are conducted will vary from event to event; instructions on how to participate in pre-sales will be emailed to qualifying members in advance.

Invitation to members-only events: There will be 5-8 qualifying events per year, including a series of paid events – themed discussions with MinnPost journalists and special guests in intimate settings – and at least one free, casual event that gives members a chance to meet MinnPost staff and/or provide face-to-face feedback.

Free admission to MinnPost Social events: MinnPost Silver, Gold, and Platinum members receive free admission for themselves and a guest to MinnPost Social events, which occur about once every two months. (Normally, MinnPost Social tickets cost $10.)

Choice of MinnPost mug or water bottle

MinnPost Silver, Gold, and Platinum members may choose to receive their choice of a MinnPost mug or water bottle, to be delivered by mail within 5 weeks of request. Members may receive no more than one complimentary item every 12 months.


One-year subscription to The Atlantic

Gold and Platinum members will receive a one-year subscription to The Atlantic magazine, a $10 value, with delivery starting within 10 weeks of their qualifying contribution. If you are already an Atlantic subscriber, your subscription will be extended by a year. Click here for further details.

Chances to get free tickets to MinnPost partner events and attractions

Each month, qualifying members will receive an e-mail inviting them to claim available tickets/discounts on a first-come, first-served basis. Offers will vary from month to month. The program currently includes 14 partner organizations. A list of partners and additional program information is available here.

MinnRoast ticket discount

MinnPost Gold and Platinum members are eligible to receive a 25% discount on show-only tickets to our annual MinnRoast event. Qualifying members will receive an email with a discount code that must be entered on the TicketMaster site at the time of purchase. MinnPost Anniversary event ticket discount

Discount details will be announced along with other event information closer to the event, which will be held in the fall.


Invitation to free, annual “Inside MinnPost” event

This new, free event will invite Platinum members and other key MinnPost supporters to join us in late January to get a first look at our annual results, ask questions of MinnPost leadership or make suggestions, and socialize with other people who are critical to our success.

Opportunities to vote to award MinnPost advertising to other non-profits

MinnPost will award a cumulative total of six months’ worth of advertising each year to 12 Minnesota nonprofits nominated and selected by our Platinum members, who give MinnPost the equivalent of $20 per month or more. (MinnPost business staff and other members of their households are not eligible to vote.)

Four times per year, qualifying members will receive an e-mail inviting them to log in to MinnPost.com and say which nonprofit they would like to see receive free MinnPost advertising. At the conclusion of each election, three organizations will be awarded two weekly ad shares – together worth up to $1,650 – including at least one current MinnPost advertiser and at least one nonprofit that has never advertised with us.

Winning organizations may redeem award shares for any one of the following MinnPost advertising products:

  • Half page (300 x 600 pixels)
  • Embed (300 x 250 pixels)
  • Leaderboard (728 x 90 pixels)
  • Mid (300 x 250 pixels)
  • Email newsletters (300 x 250 pixels)
Award conditions:
  • Only Minnesota-based 501(c)3 organizations are eligible to receive ads (click here for a list)
  • Organizations may win no more than once within any 12-month period
  • Award shares may be scheduled at any time of year, pending availability, but may be pre-empted at any time by paid advertising
  • Award shares must be used within 3 months of receipt
  • Award shares may not be used in place of cash payments on pre-existing MinnPost contracts
