A photo montage of the “Red Bull Crashed Ice” event in St. Paul has been donated to the city to hang in Mayor Chris Coleman’s office.
The event brought tens of thousands of spectators to St. Paul in January to watch skaters careen down and around a 1,300-foot course set up near the St. Paul Cathedral.
Mayor Chris Coleman skated down the track, taking a few tumbles before making it to the end.
Now he’ll be reminded daily of his not-particularly-elegant descent, some of it on his rear and his hands and knees. But he’ll also remember the crowds and the publicity that the city attracted because of the event.
The City Council is scheduled on Wednesday to officially accept the framed picture as a gift from Red Bull. Its worth: less than $200. The memories for the mayor: priceless.
