Meeting to discuss frac sand passing through St. Paul on trains

An informational meeting will be held Wednesday at the South St. Anthony Rec Center.

St. Paul residents concerned about frac sand passing through their neighborhoods in uncovered train cars can learn more at 7 p.m. Wednesday during an informational meeting held by the St Anthony Park Community Council at the South St. Anthony Rec Center, 890 Cromwell Ave.

Space is limited, so community organizer Lauren Fulner-Erickson would like RSVPs.

Some residents raised concerns about the sand passing through area, so the community council is bringing in experts and railroad officials to discuss the matter.

“There’s conflicting information out there and much uncertainty, so we’ll listen to what they say about the sand and the transport, and the community will be able to ask questions,” Fulner-Erickson told me earlier this month.
