Superintendent, mayor, other officials greet St. Paul students on first day of school

Some students heading to the first day of school in St. Paul this morning were greeted by public officials at street corners around town.

Such as the school superintendent, the mayor and some council members and school board members.

And Police Chief Thomas Smith.

And the head of the teachers union.

The idea was to greet students and wish them a successful year. Groups of St. Paul officials were deployed on four corners around town.

At Stewart and Maynard:

At Kent and Charles:
