Luke Mullins at U.S. News & World Report reveals that while the nation’s real estate crash has been a nightmare for homeowners, it has generated some great opportunities for prospective buyers.
Home prices in 20 major cities dropped 33 percent or more from the summer of 2006 to the spring of 2009. Additionally, the federal government’s efforts to revive the housing market have driven financing costs to record lows.
Examining housing costs on a monthly payment basis, U.S. News found ten great places to buy a house for under $800 a month, including the Twin Cities, Phoenix and Columbus, Ohio.
