Twitter’s new direction

In terms of development and growth, 2010 was a massive year for Twitter.

As we roll over into 2011, emerging technologies expert Brian Solis believes the new direction of Twitter is beginning to crystallize:

“With a new look, Dick Costolo as the new CEO, and an oversold new advertising platform, Twitter is growing into something not yet fully identifiable, but formidable nonetheless.”

As Solis notes, the findings of a new study by social media monitoring service Sysomos highlight Twitter’s progress between 2009 and 2010.

According to the new data, in the past year, Twitter posted massive increases in the number of new user accounts, twitter users with bios in their profiles, twitter users with locations in their profiles and twitter users with website URLs.
