Recently, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal released its 2011 list of “40 Under 40,” honoring young Twin Cities professionals in fields ranging from business to law to the arts. Two of this year’s honorees — Kate Iverson and Lani Willis — lead Minnesota Opera’s young professionals group, Tempo, also a MinnPost YPN member group.

Kate Iverson, the creative director of Permanent Art & Design Group, currently serves on Tempo’s board of directors. Iverson is multi-talented; she has worked as a writer, editor, event producer, consultant and photographer. Her honoree profile notes that she created the award-winning gossip blog LOL/OMG, is chief editor of l’etoile magazine and “has established herself as a must-follow in Twin Cities social media and arts spheres.”

Lani Willis, the marketing and communications director for Minnesota Opera, developed the Tempo membership program as part of the Opera’s audience outreach. Her honoree profile notes that she has “led the Minnesota Opera through an impressive period of subscription growth and single-ticket sales in the face of declining national trends.” Through her efforts, the Opera secured a $750,000 four-year audience development grant from The Wallace Foundation.
