Connect young professionals run the monthly Share-a-Meal volunteer program, which allows participants to build their network with other young professionals while cooking, serving and eating a meal with Aeon residents.
Meals are served at two of Aeon’s downtown Minneapolis apartment buildings — the Lamoreaux Apartments and Continental Hotel Apartments — which provide housing for formerly homeless adults. Connect’s meals are typically served at 7 p.m. and volunteers are asked to arrive between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Meal planning is coordinated by Team Leads, who also help direct to the volunteer group on-site.
Volunteers are asked to make a donation of between $10 and $15 to help pay for the meal. An email confirmation with start time, final meal-cost per person and parking directions will be sent out approximately one week prior to the scheduled meal. This is a great way to get to know your neighbors in the Twin Cities, eat a tasty meal which you have helped cook and learn more about the need for affordable housing. Each meal date is limited to 10 volunteers.
