GenYWCA kickoff: Fitness Social 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15

This month, the YWCA of Minneapolis is excited to launch GenYWCA, a new group of young leaders who support our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women — and who also like having fun.

GenYWCA will hold its kickoff event on Sept. 15 with a Fitness Social on the rooftop of the Downtown YWCA location (on corner of 12th St. and Nicollet Mall).

Come dressed and ready to be active. Work up a sweat (or glow) in one of the “mini” fitness classes in mat pilates, spin or kettlebell. The 20-minute mini classes will start at 5:10 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 6:20 p.m.

If the fitness sessions aren’t for you, join in on a low-impact-but-spirited game of ping pong, bean bag toss or four square!

We’ll be serving light appetizers from French Meadow Bakery & Cafe and smoothies from Jamba Juice. (Note: Alcohol will not be served at this event.)

There will also be a drawing with great prizes!

Enjoy the beautiful views of downtown Minneapolis from the YWCA roof, network with other young professionals, get your heart rate up and help us kickstart GenYWCA! RSVP now.

Parking and Check-In: Please print out your Eventbrite email ticket and bring it with you to the event. When you arrive at the YWCA, you will need to check in at the front desk. Please do not park in the YWCA lot. Metered parking is available along 12th St. and there are several ramps within walking distance. Biking or bussing is recommended (consider it a warm-up to your workout!).

Can’t make it to the kickoff but want to join GenYWCA? Contact Sarah Raser: sraser [at] ywcampls [dot] org. GenYWCA will host a range of fun activities, events and volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Time: 5-7 p.m.
Date: Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011
Place: Downtown YWCA, 1130 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403
