This Sunday, the SPCO presents Franz Schubert’s stirring “Death and the Maiden” quartet in Gustav Mahler’s arrangement for string orchestra.
The program, led by conductor Scott Yoo, also includes rising composer Anna Clyne’s ravishing work for string orchestra, “Within Her Arms,” and Earl Kim’s “Cornet: A Tale of Love and Death” for narrator and orchestra.
Kim’s piece will be narrated by actor, author and playwright Wallace Shawn, perhaps best known for his role as villainous Vizzini in “The Princess Bride.”
Young people ages 18 to 39 who join the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s Club 20/30 can get $10 best-available seats to SPCO concerts at the Ordway in St. Paul and at Ted Mann in Minneapolis. To join Club 20/30, click here.
