Socks keep us warm. For some people, they are key to survival through the long, cold winter nights.

Next Tuesday, Nov. 8, the United Way Arise Project will host Sock It to Homelessness, an exclusive volunteer and networking event to help clothe the homeless and increase awareness of poverty in the Twin Cities.

Guest speaker Rocki Simões, a program director at Avenues for Homeless Youth, will discuss homelessness in the Twin Cities and ways to help our most vulnerable youth.

Attendees will have the opportunity to volunteer to assemble hygiene kits and to socialize and network with civic-minded folks while “socking it to homelessness.”

Appetizers and cash bar will be available from Seven Sushi Ultralounge and Skybar.

To gain admission to this event, simply donate one package of new socks or give a suggested $5 donation. Donated clothing items and hygiene kits will benefit Twin Cities shelters that serve GLBT homeless youth.

Take the first step in igniting action in our community; register for Sock It to Homelessness now.
