Valley Park in Mendota Heights, Minn., is a popular recreational area with some remnant oak woodlands located along the park’s trails.

Great River Greening, a nonprofit that leads and supports community-based restoration of natural areas, has cleared buckthorn and other invasive species at Valley Park in the past and now needs volunteers to put the final touches on the hidden oak woodland.
