St. Paul’s Winter Carnival won two industry awards at an international festival conference last month in Indianapolis.
The International Festivals & Events Association judges the St. Paul event in a category for festivals with an annual budget between $250,000 and $749,999.
The awards were:
Silver award for Best Educational Program, for its Winter Carnival’s Showcase Saint Paul Noon Hour Educational Program.
Bronze award for Best Event Photography, for “Night Ice,” by Tom Maloney.
Next year’s Winter Carnival is Jan. 21-31.
Does every human endeavor needs awards?
When did civic community events become “an industry?”
A sad comment on our culture.
