Democrats! Frankenphiles! We have found an editorial board willing to put its reputation on the line for Al Franken!
As dedicated Braublog readers know, I’m keeping the daily newspaper endorsement chart in the U.S. Senate race. Until this very moment, it’s been Norm 9-0, or 14-0 if you count chain papers individually. (Dean Barkley has two nods.)
But today comes word that the Winona Daily News has picked Franken. DFL-leaning Strib readers can squint a little bit and wish the state’s biggest daily had written this:
“Over the two years of this campaign, Franken has demonstrated his seriousness as a candidate and a grasp of the issues facing our country and the world. The proposals Franken has offered in response are forward looking and address the need for long-term investment and economic reconstruction and merit his election to the United States Senate.”
