So why Braublog? It’s not like my name isn’t plastered all over this site.

Here’s the basic deal: I do Daily Glean, but writing it is a hair-on-fire sprint every (early) morning. I also write posts (a.k.a stories) which require cogitating, reporting (usually) and — being the writer I am — an absurd amount of procrastination/agonizing.

I want someplace where there’s a lower wall between idea and page.

One of my life’s goals is to turn my ample procrastination into productivity. As a journalist, I’ve always been a generalist; there’s plenty of stuff I find interesting, but would be sort of ridiculous or belabored as a full post. I’d also like a place to add value about topics other than the media — though there’ll be plenty of that here — and on non-local stuff as well.

I’ve gotten a taste of the quick-draw approach on Twitter, which has frankly been a gas. Braublog lets me go beyond that 140-character-per-post limit, but well short of a full-blown sphincter-clencher. This is a work in progress, and probably always will be. I hope it’s fun and interesting for both of us.

  1. “I’ve gotten a taste of the quick-draw approach on Twitter, which has frankly been a gas.”

Does that mean I can keep sending Tweets like: “U R completely wrong!!!” “No smoking on Twitter” and my personal fav: “E85 4 Evah”

Seriously, David, I look forward to this new blog.
