Lots of interesting reading in this weekend’s business pages:

The Pioneer Press’ Dave Hanners writes about Medtronic‘s latest lawsuit, and it’s not a defendant in this one. The company is suing Petco, alleging that a faulty Petco acquarium heater caused a fire at its Fridley headquarters in 2007. Is Medtronic developing underwater defibrillators for goldfish? We don’t know exactly what the heater was being used for. “It wasn’t set up with fish,” a Columbia Heights fire chief says. “It was used as part of some experiment.”

Also, a pair of interesting stories in Saturday’s Star Tribune describe separate efforts to keep dollars local. Jackie Crosby writes about MinnEconomy, a promotion by the Electric Fetus record store to boost sales for local artists and merchants. (Lucy Michelle & the Velvet Lapelles on the cover of the business page!) Also, columnist Neal St. Anthony reports on Juhl Wind and its efforts to create a $100 million fund to help small, community wind developers finance new projects.
