A national day of protest against large health insurance companies included rallies outside UnitedHealth Group‘s Minnetonka headquarters.

The events were coordinated by an organization called Health Care for America Now. They targeted large insurance companies for opposing a public health-care option and other health-reform measures.

Finance & Commerce puts the number of local demonstrators at about 100, while Workday Minnesota reports there were more than 150 people.

In the Wall Street Journal, a UnitedHealth spokesman called the protests “diversionary rhetoric that mischaracterizes our contribution to the health care system and our role in the health reform discussion.”
