St. Jude buys medical-imaging firm LightLab for $90 million: St. Jude Medical has bought LightLab Imaging, a maker of medical-imaging technology, for about $90 million in cash. Westford, Mass.-based LightLab is owned by Goodman Co. Ltd., a Japanese medical device company. LightLab makes technology used to produce high-resolution images of a patient’s coronary arteries. NBC to sell stake in ValueVision: NBC Universal is selling its 20 percent stake in ValueVision Media, which operates the ShopNBC home-shopping network. In response, Eden Prairie-based ValueVision is planning to change the name of its network, according to the  Star Tribune, which cites a conference call with investors. NBC Universal is ValueVision’s largest shareholder. Read full story

3M’s chief lawyer to depart for growing firm: 3M Co.’s top lawyer will leave for a firm growing its intellectual property practice in Minneapolis. Tom Boardman, a 36-year veteran of the Maplewood manufacturer, will join Barnes & Thornburg’s Minneapolis office. He starts with the firm on June 1. Read full story

Carlson ups stake in Rezidor Hotel Group: Carlson Cos. has increased its stake in The Rezidor Hotel Group to 50.1 percent, the company announced Wednesday. Rezidor, based in Brussels, Belgium, operates 390 hotels in more than 60 countries. It has franchise rights for Carlson brands, such as Radisson in Europe and the Middle East. Minetonka-based Carlson has been an investor in Rezidor since 2005. Read full story
