Jamar Clark relatives want to reoccupy Fourth Precinct

Fourth precinct occupation redux. WCCO’s Ashley Roberts reports: “Members of Jamar Clark’s family told WCCO they are planning a reoccupation of the 4th precinct. … Jamar Clark’s cousin, Alexander, is leading the effort to reoccupy the 4th precinct. … The 25-year-old said he’s protesting in the name of ‘Justice for Jamar’ and pushing for authorities to charge the two officers involved in his cousin’s death.”

Never saw this one coming. MPR’s Bob Collins writes: “The Minnesota Court of Appeals is now considering the case of a man who sawed his neighbor’s garage in half in a property dispute. … Roger Weber of Nashwauk, a former candidate for the Legislature, sawed Mark Besemann’s garage in half in April 2013. Besemann had purchased the house from Weber’s sister, unaware that a family feud was raging over the location of the garage. So Weber took a chainsaw to the portion of the garage he insisted was on his land.”

Still open. For now. The Star Tribune’s Kevin Giles reports: “Stillwater school board members voted 4-2 late Thursday night to suspend action on their intended closing of three elementary schools until a court challenge is resolved. … Their vote also means they will postpone active marketing and sale of the school buildings, as well as delay implementation of enrollment boundary changes, until the Minnesota Court of Appeals rules on a petition from 834 Voice, a parents’ group that opposes the school closings.”

Seventh heaven. The Pioneer Press’ Frederick Melo writes: “Some residents along West Seventh Street used to feel a need to defend their neighborhood. Dotted with small coffee shops, one-room art galleries and eclectic housing that sometimes shows its age, it was, they insisted, a diamond in the rough. … Rather than feeling ignored, some neighborhood stalwarts now say they’re under the microscope. Developers are eyeing select locations up and down West Seventh Street, where at least a dozen major real estate projects are in various stages of planning or construction. … The diamond is no longer being overlooked, and change is afoot along one of the city’s busiest corridors — a major link between downtown St. Paul, Highland Park and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.”
