Information about Friday’s shooting. KSTP’s Beth McDonough reports: “The man shot and killed by a Minneapolis police officer on Friday has been identified by his roommate. … Thirty-six-year-old Travis Jordan was the man shot in the front yard of a home on the 3700 block of Morgan Avenue North about 2 p.m., according to his friend Paul Johnson.”

Today in the Nanny State. The Minnesota Daily’s Imani Cruzen reports: “After announcing plans to open last month, a Dinkytown coffee shop selling CBD-infused drinks has been met with legal pushback. … Hideaway and Wally’s Falafel and Hummus owner Wally Sakallah originally planned for his newest business, Cosmic Bean Dispensary, to sell drinks and food infused with CBD oil. But this would be a ‘critical violation’ of the Minneapolis Health Department food codes, said Daniel Huff, environmental health director with the health department.”

A rotten move. The Pioneer Press’ Frederick Melo reports: “Some St. Paul residents are calling the late fees they’ve received from their trash hauler absolute rubbish. … The city of St. Paul rolled out organized trash collection on Oct. 1, and residents who had been assigned Advanced Disposal as a hauler were surprised to discover they had days — not weeks — to pay their initial bill. Residents who didn’t pony up say Advanced Disposal quickly dinged them with late fees.”

Should be used to the cold. MPR’s Jon Collins reports: “Each workday starts with the commute. Robert Schwarz puts on insulated pants, boots, a down parka, two hats and three pairs of gloves. …  An astrophysicist for the University of Minnesota working at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, Schwarz has spent 14 winters in almost total darkness at the South Pole, more than anyone else, according to the National Science Foundation.”
