Please join MinnPost for a new free event series, MinnPost Social, where we’ll address the tough subjects with a MinnPost journalist in a happy hour atmosphere. Our first discussion, MinnPost Social: Education and Elections, with MinnPost education reporter Beth Hawkins and executive editor Andrew Putz, will delve into the issues surrounding local school board races — and why we should all pay attention to them.

‘Education and Elections’ will be at Eat Street Social in the Torpedo Room on Tuesday, October 7 from 5:30-7 pm. Admission and appetizers are free. Cash bar. Eat Street Social is located at 18 W 26th St, Minneapolis, MN 55404.

This event will be broken into 20-minute discussion segments with time for audience questions and discussion. More than a speech, this event is designed to educate, entertain, and give everyone something to think about on the way home.

The issue: In the Twin Cities and beyond, public schools are often at the white hot center of debates over politics and public policy. How and why did things get that way and how are the issues around education playing out this election season?

Register for this free event here and feel free to submit questions in advance to aswenson@minnpost.com. We hope to see you there!
