Today we launched MinnPost’s year-end member drive, our most important fundraising campaign of the year.

In 2014, MinnPost raised more than $58,000 in year-end gifts, with contributions from 344 donors ranging from $5 to $5,000. This year, we’re hoping to raise $70,000 and close 2015 with a record number of member households.

Reader donations are our largest source of revenue, and achieving our year-end campaign goals will give us tremendous momentum heading into 2016.

The success of last year’s campaign started 2015 with a bang, and we are delighted to report that the year has been one of tremendous growth for MinnPost.

Audience and traffic are at an all-time high. We’ve launched a new beat focused on Minnesota’s most recent immigrants, hired a data reporter, and expanded our live events program. And for the second year in a row the Online News Association – the world’s largest association of online journalists – made MinnPost a finalist for its General Excellence award, effectively naming us one of the nation’s four best news sites of our size.

We’ve gotten important recognition locally as well. In May, the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists chose MinnPost as Best Website, Ron Meador’s Earth Journal as Best Independent News Blog on any subject, and MinnPost’s Briana Bierschbach as Young Journalist of the Year.

It’s no secret that award-winning journalism is expensive to produce – and that support from our readers is critical to our continued success.

Please help us continue giving Minnesota the high-quality journalism it deserves. Make a year-end gift today.

And when you do, take a moment to tell us why. We’ll publish comments throughout the drive.
