A Fox News national poll of likely Republican voters shows Mitt Romney still the favorite in the race for the party’s presidential nomination, with the unannounced Texas Gov. Rick Parry second and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann third.

Tim Pawlenty is eighth.

The poll was taken June 26-28, in the midst of the national Bachmann blitz surrounding her official campaign kickoff in Iowa.

The poll results for top choice:

  • Mitt Romney 18%
  • Rick Perry 13%
  • Michele Bachmann 11%
  • Rudy Giuliani 10%
  • Sarah Palin 8%
  • Ron Paul 7%
  • Herman Cain 5%
  • Tim Pawlenty 3%
  • Newt Gingrich 3%
  • Jon Huntsman 3%
  • Rick Santorum 2%
  • Gary Johnson 1%

Momentum-wise, this poll, shows Romney dropping 5 points from a similar poll three weeks ago. Bachmann, though, has gained 7 points. (Parry wasn’t even mentioned three weeks ago.) Pawlenty fell 2 points.

Without Palin in the race, and without Giuliani in the race,  the top three stay the same in each case: Romney, Parry and Bachmann.

  1. State Senator Mike Parry is the third Minnesotan to enter the presidential race? Oops, it looks like it’s Texas Governor Rick Perry. Just tweaking you Joe.

It’s going to be Romney and an Anybody-but-Romney race shaping up. Curious to see who will seize the mantle for the Anybody-but role.
