Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann tried, apparently unsuccessfully, to teach NBC funnyman Jimmy Fallon how to properly say the word “Minnesota” during an appearance on his show last night.
Bachmann was in New York to meet with Donald Trump and stopped by “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” to plug her new book. The two talked about Trump and their Thanksgiving traditions, and when Fallon asked her to critique his caricature of a Minnesotan accent, Bachmann insisted he sounded more Irish than Norwegian.
Fallon had Bachmann play a word association game with some one of the other Republican presidential candidate’s names.
Mitt Romney? “Hair, vice president.”
Barack Obama? “Finished.”
Rick Perry? “I’ve got to do three … Governor, Texas … and I can’t remember the third one.”
Update: Here’s something you might have missed: The AP reports The Roots, Fallon’s house band, had a subtle message for Bachmann just before her appearance on the show:
As Bachmann strode on to the stage for an appearance on Fallon’s “Late Night” early Tuesday, the show’s band played a snippet of a Fishbone song called “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.”
The song begins with a distinctive “la la la la la la la la la” refrain — the only words audible before Bachmann, smiling and waving to the audience, sat down. The song itself, about a relationship gone wrong, isn’t political.
