The Minnesota Building and Trades Council Thursday passed a resolution encouraging Sen. Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, to enter the 2010 gubernatorial sweepstakes. Of course, if you are a DFLer, there’s a fighting chance you’ve expressed interest in running for governor and this resolution is NOT an endorsement, which Bakk acknowledges.

“The support of this organization will be crucial to any candidate running for governor,” Bakk said in a statement. “If I take the step to run, I will be working hard to gain the Council’s official endorsement.”

The council represents 50,000 construction workers. Bakk, a legislator since 1994, has been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for 32 years.
