Mary Pawlenty, wife of the Gov, has a new job as director of medical diplomacy for Children’s HeartLink.

She’s been busy during her time as first lady: She was a District Court judge in Hastings from 1994 to 2007 and then worked as a mediator of civil disputes with  Gilbert Mediation Center. She’ll start the new job in January.

The word on Children’s HeartLink: It’s an international medical nonprofit based in the Twin Cities that builds programs to prevent, treat and cure heart disease among needy children in developing countries.

It was founded in 1969 and works with hospitals in developing countries to provide treatment, technical assistance, donated equipment, supplies, education and training for medical professionals. Currently they’re working in Kenya, India, China, Vietnam, Ukraine, Malaysia, Ecuador and South Africa.
