Arbor Day is celebratated around the country today, April 24, but May is Arbor Month in Minnesota.

So, you could plant a tree today and water it well next month. And the next month. And so on.

The city of St. Paul has it all covered, with Arbor events in April and May:

April 30
For the third consecutive year, fifth- and sixth-grade students from Mounds Park Academy in Maplewood will help St. Paul Parks and Recreation by planting 300 native trees at the Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary.

May 2
150 community volunteers will plant 50 trees near Lake Como to help replace the more than 100 trees lost in Como Park during a 2007 storm. Volunteers of all ages can register online to help.

May 8
A student who who wins the “Trees Change Degrees” drawing contest will get a tree for his or her schooland will plant the tree with fellow classmates and Mayor Chris Coleman.
