Michael Brodkorb, the Republican Party of Minnesota’s deputy chairman, will head up the party’s redistricting efforts next year, it was announced today.
Every 10 years, after the census, the Legislature redraws the lines for the state’s 201 legislative districts and eight congressional districts. Control of redistricting is a bonus for Republicans, who unexpectedly won a majority in both chambers.
Brodkorb’s position is a volunteer job that involves working with the Republican legislative caucuses. In 2001, Brodkorb was the party’s guy in charge of redistricting for the state Senate.
