Gov. Mark Dayton will be in Duluth Friday afternoon with Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon for another in his series of regional development summits designed to spur job creation.
On Monday, he takes the effort to Thief River Falls.
Today’s event, starting at 1 p.m. in the University of Minnesota-Duluth’s Kirby Ballroom, includes DEED Commissioner Mark Phillips, Sens. Tom Bakk and Roger Reinert, Reps. Kerry Gauthier, Tom Huntley and Mary Murphy, Duluth Mayor Don Ness, University of Minnesota-Duluth Chancellor Lendley Black, and local business, education, and nonprofit leaders.
Monday’s event in the Northland Community & Technical College Theater in Thief River Falls starts at 1 p.m.
Previous regional summits have been in Winona, Fergus Falls, Brainerd, Virginia, Faribault and International Falls.
The effort wraps up Oct. 25, with a big state-wide summit at the Crown Plaza Hotel in St. Paul. The regional meetings have been free, but there’s a $199 registration fee for the state-wide one. Small businesses get a discount.
