A panel of reporters and judges on Wednesday will discuss how a test of cameras in the courtrooms is going in Minnesota.
The Supreme Court is allowing cameras in some civil trials, if the judge agrees, to see how disruptive the process might be to the court system. Many other states allow court cases to be recorded, and proponents say it gives the public a better insight into the judicial process.
The Minnesota test runs through June 30, so the Minnesota Coalition on Government Information is sponsoring Wednesday’s panel to discuss how things are going so far.
The session runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 10 of the State Office Building, in the state Capitol complex.
Moderating will be John P. Borger, a media lawyer and MnCOGI board member.

- Joan Gilbertson, producer for WCCO-TV
