A special legislative session next month to deal with storm damage should also repeal three business-to-business taxes, says the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Gov. Mark Dayton and DFL leaders have said they are willing to repeal a farm equipment repair tax in addition to approving the storm relief, but they don’t  but want to take up anything else in a special session.

Chamber President David Olson, though, in a letter to Dayton, said more repeals are needed:

“We respectfully ask for prompt legislative action to repeal all three of the new business to business taxes as they all negatively impact business and job growth in Minnesota.”

The targeted taxes:

  • Labor service charges for repair and maintenance of business equipment
  • Purchases of telecommunication equipment by telecom providers
  • Storage and warehousing services of business-related goods

The governor and DFL leaders have said Sept. 9 is their tentative date for a special session.
