Funeral arrangements have been set for Melvin Bakk, the father of state Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk.
The elder Bakk died Sunday. He was 92.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.
Melvin Bakk ran a canoe outfitter service and served as an Owens Township supervisor. He was a Cook Hospital and Nursing Home Board member and a founding member of the St. Louis County Rescue Squad.
In addition to his son, Bakk is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey; daughter Vicki Bakk of Virginia; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
