Mary Pawlenty, a civil mediator and the wife of former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, says she won’t run for the 2nd Congressional District seat.

She was one of many names in the candidate speculation hopper after U.S. Rep. John Kline said he won’t seek re-election next year. Mike McFadden, who ran for the U.S. Senate last year, also said this week that he’s not interested in pursuing the Kline seat.

In a statement today, Pawlenty said:

I deeply appreciate the words of encouragement I received from so many people whose opinions I respect, urging me to run for Congress in the Second District. However, I am choosing to remain a Mediator, a professional who facilitates conflict resolution. Each of us can and should serve our communities in the best way we know how, and at this phase of my life my preference is to stay focused on helping people find workable and agreeable solutions to their differences.

Mary Pawlenty had been a state court judge, and now is a civil mediator.
