Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., has sent a letter to President-elect Barack Obama encouraging a fundamental change in leadership at the Food and Drug Administration. In a FiercePharma story, Tracy Staton reports Stupak’s letter argues the FDA’s top officials are “too close with the industries they regulate.” The letter is said to be prompted by some Democratic support for CDER chief Janet Woodcock as an interim FDA commissioner, a move favored by industry types.
